Estructuras Condicionales Estilísticas en Inglés (Para Hispanohablantes)

Además de las estructuras condicionales comunes con "if", existen otras formas más estilísticas y a menudo más formales de expresar condiciones en inglés. Estas estructuras pueden añadir variedad y sofisticación a tu escritura.

Estructuras Condicionales Avanzadas

"Should you..." (Si por casualidad...)

• Estructura: Should + Sujeto + Verbo (forma base) + ... , Cláusula principal

  Should you need any help, please don't hesitate to call me.

  Si por casualidad necesitas ayuda, por favor no dudes en llamarme.

  Esta estructura es una alternativa más formal a "If you should need any help...".

  Should it rain, the event will be moved indoors.

  Si por casualidad llueve, el evento se trasladará al interior.

  Should anyone ask, tell them I'm busy.

  Si alguien pregunta, diles que estoy ocupado.

"Were it not for..." (Si no fuera por...)

• Estructura: Were + Sujeto + not for + Sustantivo/Pronombre + ... , Cláusula principal

  Were it not for your help, I wouldn't have finished on time.

  Si no fuera por tu ayuda, no habría terminado a tiempo.

  Esta estructura es una alternativa más formal a "If it were not for your help...".

  Were it not for the rain, we could go for a walk.

  Si no fuera por la lluvia, podríamos ir a caminar.

  Were it not for the support of our fans, we wouldn't be here.

  Si no fuera por el apoyo de nuestros fans, no estaríamos aquí.

"Had I known..." (Si hubiera sabido...)

• Estructura: Had + Sujeto + Participio Pasado + ... , Cláusula principal (con "would have")

  Had I known you were coming, I would have baked a cake.

  Si hubiera sabido que venías, habría horneado un pastel.

  Esta estructura es una alternativa más formal a "If I had known you were coming...". Se utiliza para condiciones en el pasado.

  Had they arrived earlier, they would have gotten better seats.

  Si hubieran llegado antes, habrían conseguido mejores asientos.

  Had he studied harder, he would have passed the exam.

  Si hubiera estudiado más, habría aprobado el examen.

Otras Estructuras Similares

• "Were + sujeto + to + verbo (forma base)...": Similar a una condición poco probable en el futuro.

  Were he to ask me, I would say yes.

  Si él me preguntara (cosa poco probable), diría que sí.
