Comparativos y Superlativos

Los comparativos y superlativos nos permiten comparar cosas o personas. Los comparativos se usan para comparar dos elementos, mientras que los superlativos se usan para comparar un elemento con un grupo de tres o más.

1. Formación de Comparativos y Superlativos

a. Adjetivos de una sílaba:

• **Comparativo:** Adjetivo + **-er** + **than**

  tall → taller than (más alto que)

  big → bigger than (más grande que)

• **Superlativo:** **the** + Adjetivo + **-est**

  tall → the tallest (el más alto)

  big → the biggest (el más grande)

Si el adjetivo termina en CVC (consonante-vocal-consonante), duplica la última consonante (ej: hot → hotter, hottest).

Si termina en -e, solo añade -r o -st (ej: large → larger, largest).

b. Adjetivos de dos sílabas terminados en -y:

• **Comparativo:** Eliminar -y, añadir **-ier** + **than**

  happy → happier than (más feliz que)

  easy → easier than (más fácil que)

• **Superlativo:** **the** + Eliminar -y, añadir **-iest**

  happy → the happiest (el más feliz)

  easy → the easiest (el más fácil)

c. Adjetivos de dos o más sílabas (que no terminan en -y):

• **Comparativo:** **more** + Adjetivo + **than**

  beautiful → more beautiful than (más hermoso que)

  expensive → more expensive than (más caro que)

• **Superlativo:** **the most** + Adjetivo

  beautiful → the most beautiful (el más hermoso)

  expensive → the most expensive (el más caro)

d. Adjetivos Irregulares:

Estos no siguen ninguna regla, ¡hay que memorizarlos!

2. Estructuras Comparativas

a. Comparativo de Igualdad: as + adjetivo + as (tan... como)

She is as tall as her brother. (Ella es tan alta como su hermano.)

This book is as interesting as that one. (Este libro es tan interesante como ese.)

b. Comparativo de Superioridad: ...er / more + adjetivo + than (más... que)

My car is faster than yours. (Mi carro es más rápido que el tuyo.)

This movie is more exciting than the last one. (Esta película es más emocionante que la última.)

c. Comparativo de Inferioridad: less + adjetivo + than (menos... que)

This exercise is less difficult than the previous one. (Este ejercicio es menos difícil que el anterior.)

He is less interested than her in sports. (Él está menos interesado que ella en los deportes.)
