Preguntas Básicas con "what", "where", "who"

Estas tres palabras interrogativas son fundamentales para hacer preguntas básicas en inglés. Vamos a ver cómo se utilizan.

"What" (Qué / Cuál)

Utilizamos "what" para preguntar sobre cosas, objetos, ideas, acciones o razones.

Ejemplos

• What is your name? (¿Cuál es tu nombre?) - My name is...
• What are you doing? (¿Qué estás haciendo?) - I am reading a book.
• What time is it? (¿Qué hora es?) - It's three o'clock.
• What happened? (¿Qué pasó?) - There was an accident.
• What do you like to do? (¿Qué te gusta hacer?) - I like to play sports.

"Where" (Dónde)

Utilizamos "where" para preguntar sobre lugares o ubicaciones.

Ejemplos

• Where are you from? (¿De dónde eres?) - I am from Colombia.
• Where is the bathroom? (¿Dónde está el baño?) - It's over there.
• Where do you live? (¿Dónde vives?) - I live in Bogotá.
• Where did you go on vacation? (¿A dónde fuiste de vacaciones?) - I went to the beach.
• Where is my phone? (¿Dónde está mi teléfono?) - It's on the table.

"Who" (Quién / Quiénes)

Utilizamos "who" para preguntar sobre personas.

Ejemplos

• Who is that? (¿Quién es ese/esa?) - That is my friend.
• Who are you talking to? (¿Con quién estás hablando?) - I am talking to my sister.
• Who called me? (¿Quién me llamó?) - Your mother called.
• Who is your favorite singer? (¿Quién es tu cantante favorito/a?) - My favorite singer is...
• Who are those people? (¿Quiénes son esas personas?) - Those are my neighbors.

Estructura Básica de las Preguntas

Generalmente, las preguntas con "what", "where" y "who" siguen esta estructura:

Palabra Interrogativa + Verbo Auxiliar + Sujeto + Verbo Principal (...)?

En preguntas más simples con el verbo "to be", la estructura es:

Palabra Interrogativa + Verbo "to be" + Sujeto (...)?

Ejemplos:

• What are you doing?
• Where is the bathroom?
• Who is that?
